Hibiya Cinema Festival Takes Innovative Approach to Cinema

The Hibiya Cinema Festival is returning to Hibiya this October for its sixth anniversary. The event, hosted by Tokyo Midtown Hibiya, will take place at Hibiya Step Square from October 12 to 22 every day from 12 to 9pm, and will feature numerous foreign and local films alongside other cinema-related events. Stimulate your five senses by experiencing classic films, including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and movies from the Harry Potter series, in an outdoor environment with large LED screens.

The Hibiya Cinema Festival aims to provide visitors with an innovative way to experience cinema through this year’s theme—nagara cinema, meaning “cinema while doing something else.”

Visitors are encouraged to experience movies while talking, eating, playing, and even relaxing in hammocks. Join other Tokyoites in enjoying classic movies, director panels, and a great atmosphere free of charge at one of Asia's most highly regarded film festivals.
